Pillaton World War One Commemoration Group - Purchase of Pillaton Playing Field

An update of progress towards our keystone project of providing a lasting commemoration of the centenary of the Great War, by the purchase of the village playing field and ensuring village ownership in perpetuity. I am delighted to report we have now raised the funds to cover the capital cost of the playing field. We still need funds to cover the associated legal costs for the purchase, and for this fund raising efforts continue, and also we also seek further donations.

Having raised the capital purchase price, agreed with the current owners, solicitors are in contact over the sale. The Village Hall trustees have agreed to assume ownership of the playing field. Sadly the process has been interrupted by the unfortunate death of one of the two co-owners in July. Clearly this has caused both delay and uncertainty, but we remain cautiously optimistic the process will be able to re-start by the end of September once details of revised ownership are clarified and agreement to the sale is reaffirmed. We just have to wait and see.
