WW1 Plaque Unveiled - 17th October 2015
During the interval in the WW1 Memorial event held on Saturday October 17th, Richard Warwick unveiled a memorial panel in the entrance hall of the Pillaton Village Hall.
The panel is made up of nine individual mosaic panels all linked to the theme of poppies. The small panels were designed and made by members of the Pillaton Arts & Crafts Group under Richard’s tuition and the frame was built and fitted by Roger Warne.
The location was seen as fitting for such a memorial because a number of the men from Pillaton who fought or died during the Great War would have attended the hall when it was the local school.
The panels were made by Alison Downing, Josephine King, Richard Warwick, Linda Mavin, Eleanor Russell-Hsieh, Maire Warwick, Jean Warne, Don King and Pam Lowther.
