The WW1 Commemoration Group Celebrates Trafalgar Night
On Friday evening 30 October, 34 guests sat down to a formal dinner in the Weary Friar in the style of a Royal Navy Wardroom Mess Dinner in celebration of the 210th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Nelson. The event was organised by the Group, both as an enjoyable evening’s entertainment and to raise funds towards the Group’s goal of the purchase of the village playing field. The Group’s chairman Lt Cdr Peter Johnson presided, with Surg Capt John Soul as Vice President.
It was a memorable and entertaining evening, superbly supported by Stella and Steve and their team with excellent food and impeccable service. £186 was raised towards purchase of the playing field. Thank you to all who attended, supported and helped with the event.
The next fund raising event will be the postponed Clay Pigeon Shoot, but for which the date and venue are yet to be confirmed.
